Dr. William Elledge, on-site physician at Life Care Center of Puyallup, was named Physician of the Year for Life Care Centers of America’s Northwest Division on March 19.
The award was given during a Life Care ceremony held at the American Medical Directors Association Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. Six other division award winners and a company-wide winner were also honored.
Elledge has been the on-site physician at Life Care Center of Puyallup since April 2012. He was praised for being an attentive listener, critical thinker and passionately giving the best quality of care possible.
Elledge plays a pivotal role in the decrease of patients returning to hospitals.
“He offers a lot of expertise in being an evidence-based practice,” said Daisha Nguyen, executive director. “He is passionate about determining why someone may need to return to the hospital by using data-gathering tools.”
Not only does Elledge care greatly for his patients, but he constantly pours into the lives of his fellow associates. He leads his team by engaging them during grand rounds and initiating clinical discussions.
“The patients are always first with Dr. Elledge,” said Nguyen. “He is their best advocate in times of need.”
“Physicians play a pivotal role in the care of our residents,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president, “and we are proud to honor those who stand out in their commitment and their compassion to ensure the health and well-being of those entrusted to them.”
